A Harrisburg man whose family said he was himself a victim of physical and sexual abuse as a child was sentenced to state prison Wednesday for molesting a girl over a seven-year span.
Dauphin County Judge William T. Tully imposed that 2 ½- to 5-year jail term on 25-year-old Khalil Ausberry under a plea deal. Ausberry pleaded guilty to multiple sex offenses in November.
Investigators said Ausberry molested the girl starting when she was 7 years old. He was arrested in late 2017. Ausberry was 14 when he started molesting the girl and 21 when the abuse ceased, Chief Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Gettle said. ....

A Harrisburg man who a judge said committed acts of “torture” against his girlfriend’s 8-year-old daughter will be spending the next 5 to 10 years in prison.
Dauphin County Judge William T. Tully slapped that penalty on Kamau Crankfield on Thursday, four months after a jury convicted the 47-year-old of felony child endangerment.
That is the maximum penalty for the crime, Chief Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Gettle said.
“The judge said there was a course of conduct of torture,” the prosecutor said.

Crankfield’s path to prison began when the 8-year-old ran out of her Harrisburg elementary school in January 2019. A frantic search ensued until the child was located the next morning after knocking on a stranger’s door. ....
