Library on wheels launched in capital

Islamabad : A new precedent has been set to promote friendship with books in Islamabad, as Chief Commissioner, Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmed inaugurated the first official library on wheels in the city on Saturday.
The project has been launched by the Libraries Department of Chief Commissioner Office on special directions of Amer Ali Ahmed.
Director General ICT, Syeda Shafaq Hashmi is leading the effort of bringing back book-reading culture in the capital.
Major reshuffle notified in Islamabad Police

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Commissioner Office issued notifications, regarding massive reshuffling and huge transfer posting in top slot of police department of the Islamabad Capital Territory on Wednesday.
According to the notifications, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Waqaruddin Syed (PSP Officer of Grade-20) has been appointed as DIG Security Division, while, Afzaal Ahmad Kausar (Grade-20 PSP officer) signed up as DIG (Operations), replacing Waqaruddin Syed.
The outgoing officer served in the ICT Police with integrity, conviction, dignity and professional approach. The newly appointed DIG (Operations) enjoyed remarkable reputation during his police service and earned good name during his career.
Creative talent contest from 11th

Islamabad: A week-long ‘Creative Talent Contest-2021’ will begin from January 11 in the Federal Capital, providing an opportunity to youth to participate in literary activities while staying at home during the second wave of coronavirus pandemic.
The initiative was being taken by the capital administration under its ‘Islamabad Reads Campaign,’ launched by the Chief Commissioner Office recently to promote literary activities in the city.
Giving details about the contest, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration Director General Syeda Shafaq Hashmi said the participants of contest would be encouraged to send articles, essays and poems in two languages (Urdu or English).

ISLAMABAD: Claiming that the opposition will reconsider its decision to resign from assemblies, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Monday said the resignations should be handwritten.
“Computer printed resignations have no legal value,” he pointed out while talking to reporters during a visit to the office of Islamabad chief commissioner.
About the controversy whether PML-N MNA Murtaza Javed Abbasi had tendered his resignation or not, the minister said that Maryam Nawaz had in her speech at Larkana rally on Sunday claimed that the lawmaker would “throw” his resignation before the speaker of the National Assembly. But on the other side, he added, “you…see Abbasi saying ‘I did not send this’ to the speaker”.
