Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on Sunday launched a national recruitment push to find the next "reform-minded" chief of police, about three months after Medaria Arradondo said he wouldn t be seeking a third term as the city s top cop.
Arradondo started as a beat officer on the city’s northside in the late 80s before becoming an inspector of the first precinct in 2013, and then chief in 2017.
Deputy Chief Amelia Huffman, who has 27 years of experience with the city's police force, will lead the department after Chief Medaria Arradondo retires.
