The Unit 5 school board on Wednesday renewed its formal E-Learning Day program, a state-approved plan for how the district approaches remote learning on days when schools can’t meet in person.
The Normal Public Library is trying to decide what to do about asbestos in the old section of the building. Interim Director John Fischer said there are several options, including temporarily moving part of the library and its programs to another site while work to remove the asbestos is done.

Jenn Latzke will no longer teach 8th grade social studies at Chiddix Junior High after her position was eliminated. She says the subject will now be taught by teachers with no certification, creating an "uneven playing field" for students.
