The HUB’s legendary Chick-fil-A Express location
will close at the end of the spring semester after the company chose not to renew the university’s franchise agreement without converting it to a full-service restaurant.
According to Penn State, a conversion would’ve required “a significant change” in the restaurant’s footprint, on top of steep costs.
Next fall, Chick-fil-A will be replaced with a
Slim Chickens franchise. The Arkansas-based chain, first founded in 2003, currently has more than 100 restaurants and is opening several other college campus locations this year. It serves an assortment of traditional chicken favorites, including tenders, wraps, and sandwiches.
