The FCHS Board met Thursday evening for their regular monthly meeting. With the new board being seated, outgoing board members Chris Miller, JC McDuffee , and Tony Conrad were presented with appreciation gifts for their many years of service to the board. New members seated were Eddie Barbre, Nate Carter, and Derek Smothers. The old board acted on several items before the new board was seated. They included: Certifying election results from April 4, 2023 Approve doors for the gym lobby project at a cost of $47,000 Approve plumbing for the gym lobby at a cost of $2,675 Approve HVAC work for the gym lobby at a cost of $11,600 Approve concrete repair for the gym lobby at a cost of $12,880 Approve roof repair for the gym lobby at a cost of $49,700 The new members were administered the Oath of Office and were seated. FCHS Fall Sports Awards The Mules held their team awards last night. The Mules volleyball team held their awards at the Journey Church. The Ceremony started with Volleyball head coach Chet Snyder thanking the crowd for coming. He then moved to some key milestones that the team hit this season. The team finished with a overall record of 33-6 the 2nd most wins in FCHS history, BDC champs for the fifth straight time, regional champions, Emerson Robbins set the school record in kills and Rylee Edwards set the school record in assists. As far as awards go here is how it went: Freshman most improved Libby Kline, Most Improved JV Lilly Gacek (Gay-sick), most improved varsity Kate Book, Defensive player of the year Lucy Britt, Team MVP Emmerson Robbins and Lady Mule Award Kaylie Barger. The Mules football team held their award ceremony at 7pm at the FCHS gym. Coach Townsend started by thanking everybody who played a role in this season. The FCHS Board of Education met last night with 4 members present. Personnel matters dominated board business for the evening. The 2022-2023 budget was adopted. The budget had been open public inspection and comment for the past 30 days. The board granted approval to seek bids for a remodel of the front gym lobby. Board member Matt Rush voted No. In personnel matters: Cassandra Fuller and Chet Snyder were hired as Class of 2026 Sponsors. Tim Ukena was employed as a permanent substitute/ISD teacher.
