Manlius man charged with distributing, possessing child pornography

Syracuse, N.Y. A 44-year-old Manlius man who is already a registered sex offender is facing federal charges of distributing and possessing child pornography.
Chester Hammond, whose address was not provided, was charged with distributing an image of child pornography over the internet and with possessing 400 child porn images on his cell phone, according a news release from the office of the U.S. Attorney in Syracuse.
Hammond appeared today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Andrew T. Baxter and was ordered held in custody pending further hearings. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum of 40 years in prison, post-release supervision of between five years and life, and a fine of up to $250,000.
