Leon Luke strikes again!

A couple of weeks ago Leon Mendonca turned 18. After many spectacular successes like a 9.0/9 score in a very strong GM Open a year ago and winning the Challegers group in Wijk aan Zee Leon just won the Spring Chess Classic 2024 at the Saint Louis Chess Club – outright. Tactics Tuesday: A Royal Display in London

This week's exercises all come courtesy from the eighth round 2023 London Chess Classic match-up between French GM Jules Moussard and British IM Shreyas Royal. With his win (and a last-round draw against tournament champion GM Michael Adams), Royal clinched his second GM norm despite being the only non-GM competing in London. 52-year-old British GM Michael Adams won the 2023 London Chess Classic with an undefeated 6/9 performance to finish a half-point ahead of Iranian GM Amin Tabatabaei.
