Charity volunteers make a difference in Belarus

Volunteers from the Northern Ireland Chernobyl Charity are about to take on one of their toughest challenges so far.
The team of eight, which includes members from the organisation s Fermanagh branch, left yesterday (Wednesday) for Belarus. There they will completely revamp a rundown school kitchen in the deprived country, in just one week.
Speaking before setting off, Trevor Kirkpatrick, who runs the Chernobyl Charity shop in Irvinestown said the group were excited about taking on the laborious task.
We just want to get out there, get the job done and get home. We re going into a school kitchen. We ll gut it all out and replace everything - that includes the tiles on the walls right up to new units, counters, serving hatch, shutter, ovens - everything a school kitchen would need, we re putting in. All the materials have been supplied by companies around the country, including Petal Postforming in Irvinestown. ....
