Brockton council voted in favour of a municipal tax rate increase of 1.61 per cent during the Feb. 9 budget meeting.
Staff presented the draft 2021 budget to council on Jan. 19 and 20, which started with a 2.95 per cent tax rate increase.

Brockton has passed its 2021 budget.
The total levy is $9.8-million and the tax rate increase is 1.61 per cent.
“Brockton Council and staff were committed to ensuring sustainability for operations while keeping the tax rate increase as low as possible in recognition of the economic difficulties faced by many residents and businesses as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic,” a release from the municipality explains.
Some highlights from the 2021 Municipal Budget include:
• $200,000.00 transferred to a reserve fund to assist with long-term planning for a new arena facility
• $100,000.00 to develop the Durham Street Park in Walkerton to support downtown businesses ....
