Chennai, April 17 (IANS) Chennai Air Customs on Saturday said it had seized six kg gold concealed in an Air India flight from Dubai.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], February 6 (ANI): Chennai Air Customs department seized 2.32 kilograms of gold worth Rs 1.14 crores at Chennai Airport on Saturday.
In a tweet, Chennai Customs informed that out of the 2.32 kg gold, 1.16 kg of gold was recovered in a flight from Dubai and the remaining 1.16 kg of gold was seized from a passenger coming from Guwahati.
In new modus, 2.32 kg gold worth Rs.1.14 crore seized. 1.16 kg gold recovered on rummaging flight 6E66 from Dubai from eat pipe and 1.16 kg gold from a passenger returning to Chennai from Guwahati by the same aircraft on its domestic leg. The passenger admitted role in both. Arrested, tweeted Chennai Air customs. (ANI) ....

Eight persons had swallowed 161 capsules of gold paste worth ₹1.28 crore
Eight passengers who used a new
modus operandi and tried to smuggle gold at the Chennai airport, by swallowing 161 capsules of gold paste worth ₹1.28 crore, were detained.
They had wrapped these capsules in polythene or rubber covers and tied with a thread, according to a release from Chennai Air Customs.

Two persons were arrested at the Chennai airport and 1.42 kg of gold, iPhones, cigarettes and liquor worth ₹85 lakh seized from them by the Chennai Air Customs.
Syed Ibrahim Gani and Shahul Hameed, who came from Sharjah, were arrested for hiding 1.29 kg of gold, in the form of paste, and carrying gold chain weighing 60 g, three gold-cut bits, 44 cartons of Gudang Garam cigarettes, eleven iPhone 12 Pro, eight laptops and eight liquor bottles, said a release.
All the items were recovered and seized under the Customs Act. ....
