Two arrested for selling spurious fertiliser in

TPolice claimed on Monday to have arrested two dealers for selling fake fertiliser.
Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood along with his team checked various fertiliser shops and found two dealers identified as Sheikh Irfan of Zamzam Corporation and Imran Imtiaz of Bhatti Dealers. The suspected dealers were selling substandard fertilisers.
The agriculture officer had sent their fertilisers samples to laboratory for analysis and the lab report confirmed that fertiliser was substandard.
On the report of DD Agriculture, the police have arrested the dealers and locked them behind bars. Further investigation was underway.

FAISALABAD: Farmers should adopt proper management strategy against pink bollworm as the insect causes a loss of more than 1 million cotton bales every year.
This was stated by Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood while addressing an agriculture seminar at Jaranwala. He said that the Agriculture Department had started creating awareness among farmers about attack of pink bollworm on the cotton crop. He said the pink bollworm goes into winter nap during November and December and its eggs remain present on cotton seeds, branches and dried leafs in farms and ginning factories. When they get sufficient temperature after winter, they again become active, he told. He said that cotton growers should act upon the advice of agricultural experts and avoid cultivating cotton crop before April 1 to save it from attack of pink bollworm. Malik Sarood of the Independent Group, famously known as the late Asma Jahangir group, was elected president of the Lahore Bar Association in a one-on-one contest, securing 2,544 votes against 2,503 of Rao Sami of the Hamid Khan-led Professional Group.
