Sources tell cnbc that the New York Stock Exchange problem may have been the result of an overnight Software Upgrade and traders got a little bit of warning because before the exchange opened this morning there was a bulletin sent out, we have got some kind of a technical problem. So, when it actually struck about 11 30 there wasnt panic there wasnt a big selloff, because there still was trading. These stocks that couldnt be traded on the New York Stock Exchange could be traded on the internet on something called bats.
