Pete police say that officer is recovering in the hospital from a gunshot wound to his hand, his gun during a traffic stop. This is how it all started. Last night around 11 00, a group of Police Officers spotted a car driving erratically. The driver sped off when they tried to do a traffic stop. They chose not to pursue, according to officers a short time later underconserve officers spotted that car in the area it down. Then the 16yearold driver failed leaving the car going. Tensions are growing in Hillsborough County, after a deputy shot and killed an unarmed black man. The shooting took place a week ago . Today. And the clairmel neighborhood has been protesting the death. Almost every night since. A member of the Hillsborough County Sheriff Swat Team shot and killed 22yearold lavonia riggins last tuesday while executing a deputies say riggins reached for his waistband. But was later found to be unarmed. Deputies said riggins was known to have weapons in the past, and he was under investigation for suspected drug dealing. Protestors have been gathering on 78th street for the past week, demanding that deputy face charges. Theyve even started blocking traffic. Several deputies were on hand last night to keep everyone safe. The protestors and the public. Last week. All patients were evacuated after the building lost power. Anchor james tully is live at the hospital. Is every section of the Medical Center fully operational now . Reporter from the emergency room to every floor of Bayonet Point its back open. Last thursday it was a dicey situation. The hospital lost power because of a fire and all 224 patients had to be evacuated. Now in the days since we understand that fire started in a room where the auxilliary generator was being kept. That generator has been repaired. The reason it takes so long, one of the reasons its a hospital. Has to be sterilized. Cleaned very thoroughly. Hospital staff this morning working to bring patients back that were transferred to other parts of pasco county and hernando county.
