The 7pm accident happened at Labong-ogali trading Centre along Awer-Amuru District headquarters road in Amuru Sub County.
Authorities identified the deceased as Police Constable (PC) Emmanuel Walubengo.
Eye witnesses told police that Constable David Ocheng who was driving the ill-fated car, registration number UP 5769 attached to Elegu Police Station, lost control after hitting a pothole but in the process of trying to regain control of the vehicle, PC Walubengo fell off and died on the spot.
A fatal accident along the Kampala Masaka road has claimed a 31 year old traffic police officer.
According to Lydia Tumushabe the Katonga region police spokesperson, the accident this morning happened at the Kampiringisa check point involving a Motor Vehicle reg number UAX 542N, Toyota Harrier black in colour being driven by a one ,Charles Tuhimbise 60, resident of Makindye, who was coming from Kampala heading to Masaka .
It is alleged that he was driving at a high speed and on reaching the checkpoint lost control, overturned and knocked two(2) police officers on duty who were on the opposite side.
One of the victims PC Alex Khakosi 31 yrs old traffic officer attached to Kamengo Police Station died on spot while PC Elias Hasahya attached to FFU Kamengo taken to Mpigi Health Center iv in a critical condition.

A speeding vehicle has knocked dead a traffic policeman and injured another critically at Kampiringisa traffic police checkpoint in Kammengo sub-county in Mpigi district.
The deceased has been identified as police constable Alex Kakose while the injured is Elias Asaya. Both the deceased and injured police officers are attached to Kammengo police station. Asaya is admitted at Mpigi health centre IV in critical condition.
Lydia Tushabe, the Katonga Region police spokesperson, says that duo was knocked this morning by a Toyota Harrier registration number UAX 542N being driven by 61-year-old Charles Tuhimbise.�
