There have been a handful of drownings on the Missouri River at Pierre and Fort Pierre in a little over a year. The most recent was last week (Jun 21, 2021) when 60 year old Charles Serbousek of Pierre and 6 year old Joseph Serbousek of Pierre were fishing from shore at Farm Island. Information from the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office says Charles likely died as a result of a heart attack prior to his body entering the water. Cause of death for Joseph was drowning. ....

Information from the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office says forensic examination indicates 60 year old Charles Serbousek of Pierre likely died as a result of a heart attack prior to his body entering the water.
The cause of death of 6 year old Joseph Serbousek of Pierre was determined to be drowning.
Names of the victims are being released with the permission of the family. Hughes County Sheriff Patrick Callahan asks that the public and media respect the family’s privacy. ....
