Victim in fatal Onalaska crash identified ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) - Onalaska Police identify a West Salem resident as the person killed in a two vehicle crash in April. Chief Charles Ashbeck said on April 21 officers were called to the crash at 2:36 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy. 16 and Pierce Road. Onalaska Police told News 19 that day that a vehicle pulled out onto the highway from Pierce Rd. when an eastbound vehicle hit that vehicle. The driver of a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan was identified as Samantha Moore, 33. She was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated. She was taken to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse where she later passed away from her injuries. ....

(WKBT) A woman died last month in a crash at Hwy. 16 and Pierce Road in Onalaska, Onalaska Police Chief Charles Ashbeck said Monday. Samantha Moore, 33, West Salem, died at Gundersen Health System as a result of her injuries, according to the release. Authorities responded to the crash at 2:36 p.m. April 21 to find two severely damaged vehicles at the intersection. Moore was the driver of a red 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, found on the north shoulder of the westbound lanes of Hwy. 16, according to police. She was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated. ....
Onalaska Police continue to investigate body found off of Highway 53 April 26, 2021 6:08 PM Kade Overton Updated: “308 I’m on Scene” When officers arrived they found what was confirmed to be human remains with very little evidence around them. Onalaska Police Chief Charles Ashbeck said, “So it was partially decomposed some portions were bones and there was still some remains there.” Now the remains are at the La Crosse Medical Examiners Office where they hope to find out more. “We are just working now with the medical doctors to look for any possible signs of the cause of death if there was any foul play involved or not. Just what those types of investigations can reveal,” said Ashbeck. ....
