A VOLUNTEER recruitment drive is under way for a new digital support service. CVS Inverclyde has introduced a new Digital Information Assistance and Learning (DIAL) service which will help people across the area build up their online skills. The service operates between 2-5pm Mondays to Thursdays and 9am to 4pm on Fridays until the end of May. The pilot, funded by Communities Recovery Fund, will see volunteers provide advice via the telephone. CVSI chief executive Charlene Elliot said: The pandemic has meant a rapid shift to online and digital services and resources, but many people in our communities are not confident with their digital knowledge and skills so they are missing out on essential services.
AN INVERCLYDE support hub is encouraging community groups to apply for funding to get through the pandemic. CVS Inverclyde helps community organisations access extra money and gets in touch with funders who want to support local groups. Chief executive Charlene Elliot says funding for community groups is crucial at the best of times - and even more so at the moment as Inverclyde deals with the pandemic. The team at CVS send out regular bulletins with details of grant funding and provide one-to-one support to organisations on making applications. They also bring groups of funders together to discuss cash available to encourage groups to apply.
