EVANSVILLE, Ind. “This is wild in the best way possible,” Chef Charisa Perkins said.
Perkins is finishing the final details of remodeling the former Tin Man Brewery, where she was the executive chef for four years, into her own restaurant, the Copper House.
“I’ve always loved this building,” she said. “It feels like home, it’s a special place.”
According to Perkins’ research, the building was built in 1869 as a saloon and boarding house. It had many uses over the years until it was renovated into the Tin Man Brewery in 2012.
“The Davidsons did a great job with all the renovations,” Perkins said. “I saw a picture where there was no floor here, it was just a big hole into the basement. We didn’t have to do much structurally except where we put in the new kitchen.”
