To prevent erosion across one kilometre stretch of the river, they have already constructed eight bamboo barriers and will make two more within three to four days, our Kurigram correspondent reports quoting villagers. Around 5,000 families from Dhanarchar, Natun Gram, Diglapara and Charpara villages have contributed for the protection of various structures including houses, arable land, schools, mosques-madrasas, and cemeteries along the river, Mobarak Ali, a UP member, told The Daily Star. ....
