s school graduate owen labrie will serve a year in jail in connection to the sexual assault of an underclassman as part of a tradition known as the senior salute. good evening, i m shelley walcott. tom: i m tom griffith. before learning his punishment, owen labrie heard from the wmur s kristen carosa has more from today s sentencing. kristen: the victim in this case statement before labrie was sentenced. she spoke about how this has impacted her life and why she is fighting so hard for justice. to this day i still feel numb. appearing by video, the girl who was sexually assaulted by her st. paul s classmate owen labrie recalls the day it i will never understand why the offender raped me. labrie has been sentenced to one year in jail and 5 years of probation. the victim says what labrie did suffering. what he did to me made me feel like i didn t belong on this planet and that i would be better off dead. she says she has trouble sleeping and can t concentrate
