Pembroke, N.C. Purnell Swett High School rising senior Chandra Locklear loves to play softball for her high school and her travel team.
She s on the ball field somewhere five and six weeks at a time. There was one time she went 12 weeks straight she gave up her whole summer, said her father, Royce Cummings.
Locklear takes refuge on a softball field. It s her place of comfort. But it s also the site of the 17-year-old s deepest trauma. ....
