The detained americans, giving them food rations. we re going to find out what s going on with this story and get you an update on that. bill: meantime, remember the british couple kidnapped by pirates in somalia months ago? they re making a desperate plea for help a. videotape with paul and rachel chandler saying they re being split up and are not being treated well. the couple was kidhapped by somali pirates as they sailed on their yacht in the indian ocean, that was the 23rd of october. now they say they are running out of time and greg palkot is live on the story in london. what are the chandlers saying about their ordeal on tape? reporter: it is the latest word from the british couple and it is not good, it is a videotape that was obtained by a reporter from our sister network, sky news, and it shows a doctor examining them. they don t appear to be in fantastic shape. they re being held by pirates, separately, north of what we are told, the pirate layer of hardihere along the be ....
Jon: so is anything being done to help get them free? well, not much according to several people that we ve been speaking to, and we ve been hearing from today including the chandlers themselves. paul chandler made his own pitch to the u.k. government. we heard a bit of it in your introduction, jon, let s hear a little bit more of paul chandler s plea to london. [inaudible] u.k. government says it is monitoring the situation, it is doing everything it can to get the two released, but, in fact, it says flatly no ransom would be paid by the u.k. the pirates have been talking in their last missive about this, jon, a $2 million. we spoke to one negotiator who, ....
Individual, a private family, and that s the key. we re talking to a negotiator here in the u.k. who is offering to help out and has gotten in touch with the pirates back last fall. at that point, he said that for $200,000, he could have gotten the chandlers out, but now, that price has gone up. he s hoping that this message, both from paul and rachel chandler, will help to ratchet up the pressure a little more. let s hear a little more from this couple. this is rachel chandler, speaking to the camera here. just take a look. so lonely and desperate, difficult to sleep and carry on through the day. reporter: very tough. the doctor, bill, says that she is appearing to be malnourished, she is not sleeping, she is suffering from separated to a greater extent than her husband. we are told by the sky reporter involved in this that in fact they have been joined for the past couple of days, they are together ....

Chandlers have been held for more than 100 days now, greg. what kind of shape does it look like they re in? not good, jon, according to the doctor who was seen examining the couple, that video obtained by our sister network here in london, sky news. we are told that the couple s being held north of the pirate lair in somalia. their yacht was seized in october. the doctor says that rachel, rachel chandler is in the worst shape physically and mentally. she s said to be malnourished, have is insomnia, also a bit disoriented. here is a little bit more of what she had to say, take a listen. if i was with my husband, i would feel a lot better. it s because i m not with my husband that i m feeling so lonely and desperate and finding it difficult to sleep and carry on through the day. that seems to be the key for her, jon. they are not treating us well, she said. we don t have much time left. ....
