MANALI: Four officials of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) have been booked in connection with theft of 58 metallic bars costing Rs 1.23cr from a store of Parbati hydroelectric power project in Kullu, police said.
A senior manager of NHPC on September 28, 2018, had lodged a complaint with Banjar police station of Kullu that the 58 bars amounting to Rs 1.23cr had been stolen from the store of their Bihali power house. Police investigation revealed it was a case of theft by collusion as officials of both NHPC and BHEL were involved who had forged documents.
A case has been registered against the three accused under different sections.
KURUKSHETRA: Police have booked three persons for allegedly duping a man of Rs 30 lakh in Haryana s Kurukshetra district.
The ruse was, setting up a hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh that was not to be.
Raj Kumar Saini of Bishangarh village in Kurukshetra district lodged a complaint against Ravinder Kumar of Rohtak and two others Ravi Kumar and Vikas.
Raj Kumar came in contact with Ravinder of Rohtak through a common acquaintance, Kamal of Jind.
“Through Kamal I met Ravinder, Ravi and Vikas who introduced themselves as directors of a firm, Sumangal Power, Saini said.
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh government has started the process to acquire over 698 bighas of land for the construction of 382MW Sunni dam hydroelectric project by issuing a notification under Section 11(1) of Land Acquisition Act. Land acquisition would result in displacement of 45 families.
The social impact assessment of project-affected areas has revealed that 91% primary stakeholders were willing to surrender land for acquisition, provided appropriate compensation was paid and only 8% resisted the process.
As per the notification, total 8,007 forest trees and 2,914 fruit-bearing trees are in the project area. Additional district magistrates of Mandi and Shimla have been designated as administrators for the purpose of relief and rehabilitation process as land to be acquired for the project fell in the two districts.
