The Commission municipale du Québec (CMQ) has announced that the city of Chambly will no longer be under provincial trusteeship as of June 19, allowing the local municipal council to fully regain the decision-making power it lost more than two years earlier.
In February 2019, the city was placed under control of the CMQ by provincial decree. The municipal council continued to administer the city, but all decisions needed to be approved by the province.
