TOWN OF KINGSTON, N.Y. â Catskill Mountainkeeper has submitted a report to town Planning Board members that asks for the 850 Route 28 LLC site to be recognized for its nationwide significance.
The 46-page report was released Tuesday as part of an effort to have a proposed steel and concrete fabrication plant undergo a comprehensive environmental review using language in the state Historic Preservation Act.
âAt least three historic wagon roads traverse through (850 Route 28) including the Waughkonk Wagon Road,â the study reports. âState forest lands surround this property where owners propose . construction of two large industrial buildings and removal of existing historic resources (such as) approximately 1,000 feet of the Waughkonk Wagon Road and blasting removal of half of Hemlock Quarry. Removal of these valuable historic resources will irreversibly destroy them.â
