Mary Ellen Gambon Special to Wicked Local Sharon The School Committee voted 6-0-1 at its Feb. 24 meeting for elementary school students to return to in-person instruction beginning Monday, April 5 while grappling with a projected $1.2 million budgetary shortfall. The motion called for transitioning learning models beginning on Aril 1 and deferring responsibility for this transition to Acting Superintendent Meg Dussault to plan and execute its implementation the methods to accomplish transition. Member Heather Zelevinsky abstained after having offered a friendly amendment to make sure that those who are in remote learning could continue in this direction unless DESE does not allow it. Members said it was their understanding that DESE would allow this to continue, so there was no need for the amendment. ....
