WEC Spa 6-Hours: Toyota win first race of Hypercar era

Toyota Gazoo Racing’s #8 crew of Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Kazuki Nakajima took the first-ever Hypercar victory at the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday.
Buemi took the all-new Toyota GR010-Hybrid to the chequered flag after an eventful race which saw the trio fightback from two separate penalties to win an intriguing 2021 FIAWEC season opener.
They faced down a race-long challenge from both the sister Toyota of Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway and Jose-Maria Lopez and the Alpine A480-Gibson.
All three Hypercar entries led during the frantic six-hour race but it was the No. 8 that came out on top when several issues were encountered by the No. 7 machine. ....

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing s #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid has won the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the first race of the 2021 FIA WEC season, against Alpine Elf Matmut.
This weekend, the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, first round of the 2021 FIA WEC season, officially kicked off the new
Hypercar class in competition. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing s #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid shared by Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Brendon Hartley has won the first race of this new era. However, it wasn t smooth sailing for the Japanese team.
The #8 incurred a five-second penalty during a pit stop for an unsafe restart. ....

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship returns to action Saturday (March 20) at Sebring International Raceway for the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring presented by Advance Auto Parts. There will be 36 cars on the grid for the 12-hour classic, split between five classes.
With Action Express Racing confirming a couple of weeks ago that their second car with Ally sponsorship will do the full Michelin Endurance Cup, all seven cars that participated in Daytona are back. All seven teams are running three-driver lineups. That means that drivers such as Helio Castroneves, Mike Rockenfeller and AJ Allmendinger are not entered. ....
