ty brennan went out to the scene as crews battle the situation. reporter: the fire broke out at the scaup yard sending a huge plume of black smoke. firefighters say it was difficult to get a handle on the fire because there is a lot of construction in the area and a lot of fire hydrants are not operating. this is the scene earlier today. the fire was at a scrap yard called we buy scrap. it was blaze. they called out a second alarm to make sure they had enough resources. they had two hazmat units on scene to be safe. the lack of working hydrants in the area was a bit of a hiccup. they were able to get the fire knocked out in half an hour. it is common for one or two hydrants are knocked out but we that it did not make a difference. just a different challenge for us. reporter: a cause is being investigated. crews are here on scene to mop up any hot spots. ty brennan, fox 10 news. traffic alert as a lot of people head back to the valley this labor day weekend. it was suc

hello and thanks for joining us. first on fox, labor day taking a tragic turn in a phoenix neighborhood. a 2-year-old little girl pulled from a backyard pool and then rushed to the hospital in critical condition. danielle miller is live from phoenix children s hospital with the latest. danielle? reporter: kari, this two-year-old little girl still recovering at phoenix children s hospital, and what fire crews are telling seen at her home for a few minutes near 85th avenue and camelback. she was found in a backyard pool. a bystander did perform cpr. but when crews were transforming this little girl, she did not have a pulse and she was not breathing. now the good news here is that crews were able to restore a pulse but we are told that she is still not breathing on her own and now on a ventilator here at phoenix children s. not sure how long the little girl was in the water, who was was there, who called police. but we are working to get those details and if we get any condit
