U.S. and Israeli Partners Announce Awards for Homeland Security Technologies Newswise WASHINGTON – The Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation is announcing awards for two collaborative projects totaling $1.5 million to develop advanced homeland security technologies in the areas of threat detection and 3D mapping. The BIRD Homeland Security (HLS) program is a joint initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) and the Israel Ministry of Public Security (MOPS). “The BIRD HLS program gives us the opportunity to bring some of the best U.S. and Israeli technology companies together to address our broad homeland security needs,” said DHS Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Under Secretary for Science and Technology William N. Haifa, Israel-based Levitection and Georgia, USA-based Liberty Defense technologies are developing an electromagnetic imaging and artificial intelligence-based solution to detect threats and hidden items in wide-open areas. ....
The Israel-US Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation announced on Tuesday that it has awarded $1.5 million in funding to two homeland security projects between US and Israeli companies which aim to develop technologies for homeland security. The projects were selected by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T), the Israel Ministry of Public Security (MOPS) and approved by the BIRD Foundation’s Board of Governors to advance technologies for homeland security. DHS, MOPS, and S&T have partnered to fund technology collaborations between US and Israeli partners that address the homeland security needs of both countries and present significant commercial potential since 2016, the foundation said. ....
