The Tamil Nadu Assembly unanimously passed a resolution urging the Centre to ensure that Karnataka releases water from the Cauvery river in accordance with the Supreme Court s directions. Chief Minister M K Stalin accused Karnataka of creating an "artificial crisis" by not releasing the water. The resolution was supported by the AIADMK, while the BJP staged a walkout, arguing that the resolution did not provide a comprehensive solution to the Cauvery dispute and did not address their proposed amendments. The Leader of Opposition, Edappadi K Palaniswami, called for increased pressure on the Centre regarding the matter.
BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan says the resolution was brought in to hide the DMK government’s 'inability' to get water due to Tamil Nadu from the Congress-ruled neighbouring state.
