Canada’s Kinross Gold (TSX: K; NYSE: KGC) has signed a $9.5 million farm-in agreement with a Finnish subsidiary of Australia-based S2 Resources (ASX: S2R) to search for gold in Finland. The agreement covers about 83 sq.-km of S2’s noncore gold tenements in Finland, with the Australian junior on Thursday saying that it would retain full ownership of 498 square kilometres of ground holding the Aarnivalkea gold prospect and the Ruopas Isovaara nickel-copper target. Snowstorm to hit Eastern Finland on Thursday, accumulations over 20cm possible

Yle meteorologist Joonas Koskela predicted on Wednesday evening that more than 20cm of snow will accumulate in Eastern and Central Finland. Some places may get 30cm of snow. In Lapland, more than 10cm of snow may accumulate on Friday and Saturday. On Thursday, precipitation will start as rain, turning during the day into snow and sleet in North Karelia and North Savo. Toward evening, the precipitation will become snowier. Winds will also become stronger. According to Koskela, the situation could even be described as snow chaos . There may also be some snow in central Finland on Wednesday evening and night, but the accumulations will be negligible compared to the storm expected on Thursday. On Wednesday night, a few centimetres may accumulate between Pirkanmaa and the Savo region.

Rupert Resources (TSXV: RUP) has reported new drill results from the Ikkari prospect at its 100%-owned Pahtavaara project, about 1,200 km north of Helsinki in Finland’s Central Lapland greenstone belt. Highlights include drillhole 121019, which intersected 110.4 metres grading 6.1 grams gold per tonne starting from 183.6 metres, including 3 metres of 28.7 grams gold; and drillhole 121016, which returned 122 metres grading 1.6 grams gold from 15 metres. James Withall, Rupert Resources’ CEO, noted in a press release that the latest drill results “indicated good continuity of high-grade core at Ikkari, with the intercept from hole 121019 over double the average grade at Ikkari.”
