This week, the Volusia County school district announced it will welcome volunteers back to campuses on a limited bases as well as permit some academic field trips. Large events like proms and graduation bashes are still not allowed.
Flagler County s spring break was the week of March 15 and Volusia s was last week. Now, officials are watching to see whether there will be an increase in cases after the break similar to when students returned in January.
The state s numbers include a breakdown of how many cases are in each school information the districts have been unwilling to provide. Neither agency is providing information about how many students or staff members are in quarantine.

Both districts are collaborating with local health departments to vaccinate teachers, although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says teachers don t need to be vaccinated for schools to reopen safely. Last week, the CDC updated its guidelines to say that masked students can sit 3 feet apart in classrooms rather than 6 feet.
