Journalism alumna Ginny Monk received the Insight Award for Explanatory Journalism during the 2023 Nonprofit News Awards for her series on the impact of evictions on children and their families.
Their landlord filed to evict Elizabeth in January, and after a series of court filings, the family had to leave their apartment in June. After that, they became homeless, and it’s been months since they had a stable place to live.
Kids thrive on routine, and school tends to be a big part of that routine.
