Pelley good evening, this is our western edition and there is breaking news in the west where Arizona Governor jan brewer has been under tremendous pressure over a controversial bill. The bill would allow businesses to deny service to someone on religious grounds. Supporters say its about religious freedom, opponents say its really about discrimination against gays and lesbians and others as well. Carter evans is in phoenix where the governor has just spoken. Reporter scott, there were cheers from the crowd here tonight as governor brewer announced that she will veto senate bill 1062. Her decision puts an end to a debate here in arizona that had become a national controversy. I have not heard one example in arizona where a Business Owners religious liberty has been violated. We begin with the growing backlash to the bill in arizona. Mitt romney now joining the calls against it. He tweets, veto of this is right. Hes against it, so are john mccain and jeff flake. So are big corporations. With the super bowl coming to phoenix next year, governor brewer has the nfl to worry about. Local Business Leaders are calling for a veto. So are the crowds outside the state capital where were joined with the latest. Is there a feeling, miguel, that the business interests, that they are having a big influence . The biggest concern for them is the uncertainty that this bill inserts into their workforce, saying employees with a deep religious belief could sue their employer for offers abortion services. Today, General Motors linked seven more deaths to a faulty ignition switch and it nearly doubled the number of cars its recalling, from the 780,000 announced earlier this month to nearly 1. 4 million. Gm also said today the ignition switch is now tied to 31 crashes in which 13 people died. Right after the initial recall, cbs news tracked down a Gm Service Bulletin that showed the carmaker had known about problems with the switch for nearly a decade. Jeff glor has the new developments tonight. Reporter this crash of a chevy cobalt in wisconsin in 2006, which killed two teenaged girls, is part of the growing list of recalled vehicles. Margie beskau lost her 15year old daughter, amy. They knew something was wrong with the car before the accident.
