A slew of new faces will join school boards in East Multnomah County in early returns.
Former Gresham Police Chief and state legislator Carla Piluso was winning her seat for re-election to the Gresham-Barlow School Board in early results Tuesday night, even though she dropped out of the race after her name was already on the ballot.
In the Centennial School District, newcomer Erica Fuller was ahead in a race for the seat held for nearly three decades by Rod Boettcher.
In the Gresham-Barlow School District four of the five seats up for grabs were contested races.

One seat contested in Centennial School Board election
Board race pits newcomer Erica Fuller against 29-year incumbent Rod Boettcher
The Centennial School Board has one contested race and three open seats with only one candidate running for each zone in the May 18 election.
The contested race pits newcomer Erica Fuller against Rod Boettcher, who has served on the Centennial board for 29 years.
School board members are volunteers and will serve four year terms, ending June 30, 2025.
The election comes at a time when schools are in the spotlight as never before. The year of remote learning has prompted controversy with some people saying schools should wait to open buildings and many others urging schools to immediately open more fully.
So much going on in East County
