As you probably remember, March 17 St. Patrick s Day was closing time in 2020, the day that bars, breweries and restaurants across Colorado were forced to curtail in-house service as a way to try to slow the spread of COVID-19. Many of these establishments have noted this sad anniversary while appreciating the fact that they can now be open at limited capacity indoors and with outdoor seating.
But to keep things from getting out of hand this St. Patrick s Day, the state s Liquor Enforcement Division warned watering holes that its officers will be out in force (and probably not in green suspenders). The six Grand County breweries that participated in the collaborative East Troublesome Pale Ale initiative were able to help raise $34,000 for the Grand Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps people who were evacuated, displaced or lost their homes to the devastating East Troublesome wildfire last year. And 27 home brewers who entered the East Troublesome home-brew competition were also part of the fundraising effort.
Root Shoot Malting, alongside Colorado Hop Company and Propagate Labs, donated ingredients to the breweries for the beer; the recipe and ingredients were then made available to the home brewers, who were encouraged to brew their own version of the benefit beer, Root Shoot says.

Denver Beer Co. hosts the release of new year-round beer called Love This City American Pilsner, which will feature artwork by muralist Pat Milbery on the cans. Milbery’s Love This City mural art, which has become a symbol of the Mile High City, can be found in almost every neighborhood, DBC says. His iconic hearts represent the many layers of love and the City of Denver s loving energy for those who call it home. The release is being held on 303 Day, and Milbery will paint a new mural at DBC s Platte Street taproom.
