Bill to ban sex-selective abortions returns abortion debate to the House

An abortion bill is scheduled to be debated in the House of Commons on Wednesday afternoon, for the first time in over a decade.
The Sex Selective Abortion Act would prohibit a medical practitioner from knowingly performing an abortion if the reason is the sex of the unborn child.
Bill C-233, proposed by Tory MP Cathy Wagantall, is now at second reading.
It’s an opportunity to unify Canadians about an issue they already agree on, Wagantall, the MP for the Toronto-area riding of Yorkton Melville, told iPolitics on Tuesday. ....
