Emirates Airline has won the ‘Outstanding Airline Company of the Year’ award at Ghana’s West Africa Business Excellence Awards, held at The Movenpick Ambassador Hotel. The award was in recognition of the airline’s focus on customer health and safety as a top priority amid the pandemic, in addition to meeting and exceeding their expectations through innovative products and services. The accolade also acknowledges the airline’s commitment to outstanding business standards in its sector, whilst demonstrating a high standard of service delivery, competitiveness and innovation.
The event was attended by distinguished business and government representatives and industry leaders, aimed to recognize individuals and companies that play a significant role in the development of various sectors in their respective West African countries. In response to growing passenger demand for air travel, Emirates will boost its flights from five to six weekly, starting 1 April 2021. The linked service between Accra and Abidjan to Dubai will provide Ghanaians more flexibility and convenience of travel to over 90 destinations on Emirates network, including its hub and popular global destination, Dubai. The airline operator reposed confidence in the process, stating that once the vaccines were rolled out at speed and scale, there would be a lot of movement and demand would also increase to put the industry on the recovery path. Emirates has, therefore, called for the complete reopening of other economies for a substantial recovery to happen, given the interconnectedness of the world economy. “We still have a way to go before we get back to profitability and we hope this happens by 2022 as the global vaccination programme’s impact really begins to kick in,” Emirates Country Manager, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire, Ms Cathrine Wesley, said in an interview with the Daily Graphic. ....
