PARENTS of the 27 students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna, on Thursday, waited in vain as they couldn’t be reunited with their children released by bandits after over 50 days in their den.
No official reason(s) as to why the 27 abducted students were not reunited with the families as planned on Wednesday after they were released by their captors.
The parents, who gathered as early 8pm to receive their children at the school premises along the Kaduna International Airport road opposite the Nigerian Defence Academy, were disappointment but not down.
They were all full of excitements and departed from the school around 2pm. ....

Parents Demand Rehabilitation of 27 Forestry Students

Parents of the 27 students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna, who were freed on Wednesday after 56 days in kidnappers’ den, have called for the rehabilitation of their children to enable them to overcome possible post-traumatic stress disorder.
The parents, in a statement yesterday, also appealed to the federal government to aggressively pursue safe schooling as an agenda so as to give parents the confidence to send their children to school.
The statement, jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Forum of Parents of Afaka Abducted Students, Abdullahi Usman and Catherine Saleh, respectively, urged the Minister of Environment, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, and the management of the school, to ensure that all the students are rehabilitated to live a normal life and continue with their education. ....

Twenty-seven abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have been released by bandits.
The Chairman of The Forum of the Abducted Parents,  Malam Abdullahi Usman confirmed it to our correspondent on the telephone on Wednesday.
The elated chairman said, “Yes, they have been released after 50 days.”
On March 11, 2021 bandits invaded the school located in Afaka along the Kaduna International Airport road and abducted 39 students.
The bandits demanded N500m as ransom for their release, but 10 of the 39 students had been released in two batches of five each. ....
