Road patching machines to help with 'slapdash' approach to pothole repairs

The Transport and Works ministry is looking to acquire two additional pothole patching machines to improve road fixing standards in this island.

Local authorities work with coastal communities to boost preparedness

A programme is in the works to prepare residents of some of the island’s coastal areas to respond in the event of a tsunami.

UWI vice chancellor: time to rethink 'sagging' economic drivers

One of the Caribbean’s most noted academics says the region’s economies are “sagging”, and it is time for an urgent economic make-over.Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Vice Chancellor of the University of the West Indies (UWI) is also suggesting that the continued focus on “old sectors” was no longer yielding the desired economic and social benefits for the region and its people.He argued that the time has come for greater focus on building out a more digital economy if the region is to remain competitive.“It doesn’t require much detailed assessment to recognise that the Caribbean economy pre-COVID, but now even clearer so post-COVID, the Caribbean economy is in need of new sources of entrepreneurial and innovative action and energy. Cancer screening event attracts large crowd

The belief that men do not pay enough attention to their health was dispelled on Saturday morning when Cancer Support Services held a Prostate Specific and Carcinoembryonic Antigen (PSA/CEA) Screening. The hosting of the event was symbolic because it coincided with World Cancer Day.
