Aldermen get 718 Main apartments plan

Evanston Now A rendering of the proposed 718 Main St. development. Evanston’s City Council tonight is scheduled to discuss plans for a five-story mixed use building at 718-732 Main St.. The development would replace the existing Vogue Fabrics store and provide 120 apartments, including 12 inclusionary housing units, and 47 parking spaces along with 3,774 square feet of retail space. There have been a few modifications to the proposal since it was unanimously approved by the Plan Commission last month. Paul Dincin, of developer Catapult Real Estate Solutions, says a walkway to parking off the alley behind the building has been eliminated. Instead there will be an alcove at the front of the property as a possible outdoor seating area for a restaurant.

718 Main project wins Plan Commission backing

Evanston Now The new development would replace the Vogue Fabrics store. A rendering of the proposed 718 Main St. development. Evanston’s Plan Commission Wednesday night recommended approval of a five-story, 120-unit apartment development on the site of the Vogue Fabrics store in the 700 block of Main Street. The development will include 12 affordable units under the city’s inclusionary housing ordinance and a total of 47 parking spaces along with 3,774 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. Paul Dincin, of developer Catapult Real Estate Solutions, says unit sizes in the building are being purposely kept smaller than typical, to keep rental unit price points lower than average for new-construction units in the area.
