Niskayuna narrowly adopts school budget after concerns about staff cuts FacebookTwitterEmail NISKAYUNA – By a 4-3 vote, the Board of Education adopted a $93.1 million budget from the superintendent that features a 1.2 percent tax hike and stays with the state tax cap, but also eliminates about 13 positions. The 2021-22 spending plan s proposal to cut staff was a major sticking point for Board Members Greta Jansson and Kimberly Tully who along with Board President Howard Schlossberg Board cast dissenting votes during Tuesday’s special board meeting, held virtually. “It is very hard for me to in this climate to know that there will be cuts to staff that can affect students,” Tully said. “In an environment like this, it’s hard to swallow that kids aren’t going to come back to school and not have as robust an experience as I would like to see them have.” ....
