Almost a million Covid vaccines given out in Norfolk

Almost a million coronavirus jabs have been given out in Norfolk and Waveney, new figures have revealed.
Fresh data published by NHS England on Thursday shows 948,430 injections have been administered since the vaccination programme began in December.

During the latest seven-day period, up to May 9, another 53,705 people across the area received shots.
It represents a slight improvement on last week, when
Norfolk and Waveney Health and Care Partnership continues to have the second-best vaccination rate in the country when it comes to follow-up doses, at 40.4pc. ....

Almost five months after the world s first coronavirus vaccine was administered here in the UK, more than 50 million doses have been given out across the country.

Under-40s are to be offered an alternative to the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine due to a link with extremely rare blood clots.
The UK s medicines regulator, the MHRA, said 242 blood clots had been discovered among 28 million people who received first doses of the AZ jab up to April 28.

That is an incidence rate of 10.5 per million.

A mass Covid vaccination centre is set to open in Great Yarmouth.
Jabs will be offered to eligible patients at the coastal town s Market Gates Shopping Centre from Thursday (April 29).

The site provides an additional option to the existing large-scale venues which are already delivering vaccines in Norwich, Attleborough, King s Lynn, North Walsham, Harleston, Lowestoft and Downham Market.
