Sheriff’s Department To Hold Active Shooter Training At Castaic Lake In Santa Clarita The Los Angeles County Sheriff Department (LASD) is scheduled to hold active shooter training at Castaic Lake on Tuesday. On Tuesday, May 18, the LASD Parks Bureau, with the help of the LASD Tactics and Survival unit, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and other agencies, is scheduled to be taking part in active shooter training at Castaic Lake Recreation located at 32132 Castaic Lake Drive in Castaic, according to Department officials. “Active shooter drills like these sharpen the skills necessary to quickly neutralize a threat and allow for quicker medical response,” read an official statement released Monday.

(File Photo) The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation announced today that its Junior Lake Lifeguard program which was canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic will re-open this summer.  The program will have COVID-19 safety protocols, including face coverings required for instructors and students at all times except during swimming or when eating and drinking, along with physical distancing, daily health and temperature screenings and smaller class sizes to ensure the health and safety of staff and participants, officials said.
