Hermanus were activated following the reports of a drowning in progress in the sea near Fickâs Pool. According to NSRI a man was witnessed jumping into the water before getting into difficulties.
Wayne Theron, chairperson of Hermanus Neighbourhood Watch, said he received the call when on his way home with his wife. âI responded immediately,â he said. âWhen I arrived, I saw a lifeguard close to Losklipâs side. The lifeguard and I jumped into the ocean to try and rescue the person who was floating head down in the water. We took him out to the rocks and we started looking for a pulse but there was nothing.â
