(Kevin Chang / Staff Photographer) New artwork is popping up all over town in Laguna Beach. A dedication event was held for two new structural public art installations last week, introducing the public to Jeffrey Skarvan’s “Call to Action” and Casey Parlette’s “Shark Migration.” Skarvan’s work incorporates the red phone booth on Forest Avenue. A contest is held every two years for public art installations using that booth. There were 11 applicants for the contest this time around. In having his project selected, Skarvan received a $5,000 honorarium.

Hit the Reset Button at the Houstonian's Newly Revamped Trellis Spa

Hit the Reset Button at the Houstonian s Newly Revamped Trellis Spa Spend an afternoon at the largest luxury spa in Texas, and you’ll never want to leave. Anyone can walk into a drugstore and buy a $10 “luxe” face mask or go online and order a pack of fancy bath bombs, but why do that when you can go to the Houstonian’s Trellis Spa? After the past year (seriously, did 2020 ever really end?), we all need dedicated time to relax, rejuvenate, and reenergize. Trellis Spa, which recently reopened after a year-long multimillion-dollar renovation, is making it easier than ever with grand spaces, specialized treatments, and the addition of their brand-new soaking pools and garden. Your only job is to sit back, get pampered, and enjoy a bite or two of their famous shortbread cookies.
