Covid-19 und Long Covid könnten durch ein latent in uns schlummerndes Virus verstärkt werden – das Epstein-Barr-Virus (EBV). Dieses in 95 Prozent aller Menschen vorhandene Virus ist normalerweise inaktiv, scheint aber bei einer Infektion mit SARS-CoV-2 reaktiviert zu werden, wie nun Analysen belegen. Demnach ist EBV in bis zu 90 Prozent der akuten Covid-19-Fälle und bei 73 Prozent der Long-Covid-Patienten aktiv. Das könnte einige Symptome von Long Covid erklären. ....
