Mission District icon La Doña takes the spotlight

Running late to her job as Latin music analyst for Pandora Radio one morning in the summer of 2018, Cecilia Peña-Govea figured she’d drive to the Mission District office rather than ride her bicycle.
Instead of arriving at work, however, she crashed into a stalled car while heading north on Interstate 280. Peña-Govea recalls feeling her spirit rise out of her body and experiencing an epiphany that revealed her first song as La Doña, the femmetón singer-songwriter. ....
