March is Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) Month at Michigan State University. ANR Month (formerly ANR Week) has served as a platform for enterprising new developments in agriculture and natural resources in Michigan since 1914.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State University (MSU) will celebrate Michigan’s impact and contributions to agriculture and natural resources during Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) Month.
Jointly sponsored by the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), MSU AgBioResearch and MSU Extension, a series of events will be offered throughout March. In prioritizing the health and safety of our faculty, staff, students, and the public, each of these events will be held in an online format. ....

The debate about sound and evidence-based science communication, effective in engaging the public and countering mis- and disinformation, was already quite lively long before the Covid‑19 pandemic hit. The coronavirus outbreak has caused a high level of uncertainty in the public health sphere and enabled a flow of inaccurate news and rumours about different aspects of the crisis: the ‘infodemic’. The European Science-Media Hub (ESMH) sees this as both a challenge and an opportunity for resolute and effective action.
The ESMH was created three years ago by the European Parliament’s Panel for the Future of Science and Technology (STOA), as a platform to promote networking, training and knowledge sharing between the Parliament, the scientific community and the media. ....

WILLIAMSPORT– Although vaccinations continue to roll out at a good pace, local health care officials say the process would go faster if not for a lack of trust and too few resources getting COVID vaccines into arms.
Eagerness and trust in science is low in the rural areas of the state with 25 percent of Williamsport residents and 30 percent of Lock Haven residents not willing to learn about or receive the vaccine, UPMC Susquehanna region president and CEO Steve Johnson said at a virtual meeting Wednesday morning.
And the 70 to 75 percent who are eager and have the willingness to gather resources and trust in the science of both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccinations are a majority of those in those brackets of vulnerability –ages 65 or over, with pre-existing conditions or both, Johnson continued. ....
